Prerequisites

Course Content

This 5-day course offers Data Center-oriented content primarily focused on the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches, Cisco Catalyst 4900 Series top-of-rack switches, and to a lesser degree also on the Blade switches. This is one of six courses and exams that support the Advanced Data Center Networking Infrastructure partner specialziation.

Course Objectives

The goal of the DCNI-1 2.0 curriculum is to enable customers to build scalable, reliable, and intelligent Data Center networks using Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches.

1. Implementing the Catalyst 6500, 4900 and Blade Switches.
2. Implementing Firewall Services Module for a Data Center Network Infrastructure.
3. Implementing Network Analysis with NAM.
4. Implementing High Availability Data Center Features.

Course Content

Cisco Data Center Networking Infrastructure-2 (DCNI-2) is a 4-day hands-on training that teaches you how to implement an enterprise Data Center routing and switching infrastructure with the next-generation Cisco Nexus 7000 and 5000 platforms. The first 3 days will focus on the Nexus 7000, with an overview of the Nexus 5000 and FCoE on Day 4. This course provides a technical overview of the Nexus platform architecture, deployment, and operations, including Virtual Device Contexts, Layer 2 and Layer 3 features, QoS, and security. You will explore the features of NX-OS and the Nexus platform by performing hands-on labs using a Nexus 7000 simulator.

* Describe Supervisor Engine and Line Card Module features.
* Describe the key features of the Nexus 7010 power supplies and fan -cooling system.
* Describe the Connectivity Management Processor
* Describe the basic architecture of NX-OS

* Explain NX-OS Supervisor Redundancy.
* Explain how the Nexus 5000 functions within SAN and LAN environments.
* Describe the Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) protocol.

* Lesson 2: Introduction to Virtual Device Contexts in the Cisco Nexus 7000 / NX-OS.

* Lesson 4: Nexus 7000 and NX-OS Layer 2 Protocols & Features.
* Lesson 5: Nexus 7000 and NX-OS Layer 3 Protocols & Features
* Lesson 6: Nexus 7000 Fabric Switching.
* Lesson 7: Nexus 7000 / NX-OS Quality of Service.
* Lesson 8: Nexus 7000 / NX-OS Security.
* Lesson 9: Troubleshooting.

Module 2: Overview of the Nexus 5000

* Lesson 1: Overview of the Nexus 5000.
* Lesson 2: Implementing an FCoE Network Using Nexus 5000 Switches.
* Lesson 3: Understanding Fibre Channel.
* Lesson 4: Understanding the FCoE Protocol.
